Post medieval understanding of the ancientness of the human species actually tends to help us with this. We are experimenting in the west at the moment with some very post-traditional ways of arranging our sexualities and relationships. The concept of father mother birth parent is being challenged at the moment in ways that I think are you're going to hurt us more. It's a huge experiment that our civilization is embarked upon at the moment. How far can we get from what seems to be the created or evolved normativity of our species before we face some kind of systemic collapse? And how do we treat other cultures who want to come into Europe without treating them as criminals just by wanting to better their own lives
