The Fed's Underlying Inflation Gauge
The New York Fed puts out their underlying inflation gauge, which they use to determine sustainable trends in inflation. And this thing's going straight up right now; it's 3.2% for April. The only two times in the last 20 years where the underlying inflation gauge was over 3% in rising. So yeah, they have to see it. They're trying to lay the groundwork for four hikes this year or at least three.
