The History of the Gin Act

Gin was perceived as the cause of poverty and immorality. To combat all this, parliament passed a series of gin acs starting in 17 29. The act encouraged people to inform on others for illegally selling spirits. Informers were paid half of the ten pound fine that was collected for violating the act.
