The Importance of Listening to Natural Speech
There is unfortunately a double standard in my opinion where say if I made a grammatical mistake, people wouldn't really care. We process speech differently a little bit if it's from a non-native speaker than from a native speaker because we're much more adjusted to a native speaker. So an accent by a native speaker doesn't tend to be as hard for us to process as non-native speech which has different vowel sounds. It takes us a little more cognitive effort to process it.
