So if I were to look at any part of your body, I'm looking at epithelia. So when you fall in love with somebody, you're actually falling in love, not just with their personality. These cells are dead. Not all of them, but yeah. Okay, so what's the next one we're looking at? Stratified squamous. We said they've got basically no internal components to them. That means that they also have no capacity to undergo metabolism. But effectively, but one definition, they're dead.
One of the four tissue types of the body, epithelia lines and protects our organs from the external and internal environment. In this episode, Dr Matt & Dr Mike explain how the different shape and layers of epithelia tell you what function it performs (form = functions) and highlight examples in the body where you can find each type. They also explore cancer, metaplasia, dysplasia, and Dr Matt's mums skin cancer diagnosis and surgery.
