The Battle of the Hillsboroughs

Green retired in 17 79 after being passed over for promotion, but when congress offered him a brigadier generalship, he took it and headed for the carolinas. When green and morgan arrived at the hillsborough camp in late november 17 80, they found a scene not unlike the scene that had greeted horatio gates earlier in the year. 14 hundred men in bad shape, with little to eat, rags to wear, the usual lot for the common continental soldier. Green then moved down to the american camp outside of charlotte and found it not only smaller and more pathetic, but also plagued by internal rivalries between the various leaders of the north carolina militias
