Assyria - The People of Ashur

The god ashur even took over en lil's wife, the goddess ninlil. Ashur was now the supreme god for this city's people. One epic poem known to day as the tuculti ninurta epic has survived from this time. It glorifies assyrian military conquests in the south and sets out a model for how the ideal assyrian king should behave. And it also contains a vision of the fierce warlike spirit of the assyr people.
