I think most sensible accounts of this regiment give equal credit, if that's the right word, to Sterling, Patty Maine, and also to Joe Lewis. But I think it is quite possible for the SAS to be born out of all these three things. To make it into a sort of zero sum game is a bit mad, actually. You know, the SAS is a good thing or a bad thing. It can't be a combination of good things and bad things.
