The US and China in the Race for the Future of Technology

The Chinese government mandates where a lot of its technology and industrial base develops technologies. Because the United States is a democracy, the DOD cannot make companies design and develop technologies at its behest. That has created a little bit of a lag where China was able to very, very rapidly close the gap on the US over the last 10 to 15 years because they could mandate it.
