The Importance of Intellectual Charity
Pope Benedict the 16th described as intellectual charity and or we could describe it as a kind of intellectual humility. The first is not necessarily to assume the best of others, but to make judgments which are favorable to others when they express contrary opinions. If I judge a person and especially if that word gets out, right, that person stands to suffer from my judgment. It can actually do violence to my own humanity in the process by becoming the type who's just looking for other human beings to disappoint him.
