The Innovation in Paul's Argumentation on Justification by Faith
The opponents were debating Paul on the means by which Gentiles are welcomed in the people of God. And so the innovation in Paul's own argumentation is really welcoming Gentiles as true children of God through Jesus Christ alone. So it was really comes down to that issue of whether these Jewish identity badges, not works of moral righteousness, but these identity badges are what qualify these people to be accepted in the Messiah's family or not.
