I think that what's going on is consumer finance has been oversold and people have thrown the baby out with the bathwater. I think if you take a step back from where banks are today, there's $5 trillion in market cap. Most of that is held by institutions that were started a hundred years ago. The idea that people are going to continue to bank like they did in the early 20th century feels inconsistent with the consumer expectations we have today.
