It's just so much about the execution of the story, and it's all about the writer's imagination. And that is the main reason that most people read, you know, they want to relate to a character and live in that charater. But sometimes people read also just for the love of an author's voice, or that particular author's perspective on a situation - which i guess is a type of character as well. Nobody wants to read a perfect human being. That doesn't even ring true.
