Lem was taken in by a family when he was three months old. They taught him to call them mum, dad and maman. He says they told him that his own birth mother didn't want him. But because the family were very religious lem's food taking became a sign of evil. The family cast him out as a boy into children's homes where he lived with no contact from relatives.
