Farro's Dance in Spanish Key
Farro's Dance is a piece that doesn't really begin as much as it gradually coalesces. Miles would present them with some brief musical sketches and then just have them play, acting like a director to shape the sound into what he had in his mind. A lot of what ended up on the album was so different from how it had been played, that some of the musicians didn't even recognize it when they heard it. The two longest tracks on the album were recorded in these little fragments that Miles then gave to T.O. to assemble into finished compositions.
