The Importance of Pre-Poling
In psychology, we don't have access to a person's internal subjective experience. This is not typical science. We wouldn't go to a physicist and say how did the temperature of the water feel to you? Just describe it. No, we want a thermometer reading. That would be rejected in any other area of science. But, of course, in psychology, this is de rigre. This is what people do. And I guess to some extent, they're doing their best. They don't have anything else. And they're doing something, but we can't say they're doing good science.
