I think one example of that is, and what you've just described is basically the quintessence of the so-called intellectual dark web. The issues that they choose to look into almost invariably end up having a right wing slant about gayness or the real role of women. It's like someone who subversively points out: Did you know that people can't actually fully transition from male to female? They still have an awful lot of the attributes of their gender assigned at birth)? And I can easily imagine a counterfactual universe in which we had mastery over that technology's.
