I Think the Mainstream Catholic Media Got the Sex Abuse Crisis Right in a Way That the National Catholic Reporter Did Not

The National Catholic Reporter was right about the sex abuse scandal because they weren't in the middle of it. They were able to maybe see what others of us weren't looking at. The problem is clericalism, which I define as over deference to somebody because they were a Roman collar. That's why the institutional church didn't look at it and why the mainstream Catholic institutions didn't pay close attention"
