The Risks of Low HDL Cholesterol

If you have low HDL cholesterol, immediately return to the lab and demand an APOB level. The most common cause of low HDL cholesterol is insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Non-HDL cholesterol is the poor man's lingo for APOB cholesterol. Even if your LDL cholesterol is fine, but your non-HDLolesterol is still abnormal, you almost certainly have a high APOB.
