Pompey and the Roman Empire

Pompey reestablished Rome in control of Pontus before moving on to Armenia. Togranus hoped that if he could ingratiate himself with Pompey, Armenia would not be turned into a full province. His efforts were successful and Armenia was never fully incorporated into the empire. Rather, it was left as a buffer zone between Rome and the Parthians. Mithridates kept on the run, his influence all but gone. He's committed suicide in 62 B.C. in relative anonymity.
