CHAPTER

Anxiety and Seizures in the Brain

The nature of when she was having these panic attacks was not triggered by anything. And that's what can happen with seizures sometimes. They just come out of nowhere. We don't fully understand what can trigger them, but they weren't things that were typically anxiety provoking. This is something that just happened all of a sudden. The only way that we could actually prove this was putting electrodes into her brain and proving that these attacks that she was having were localized to a part called the amygdala. She ultimately needed a kind of surgery where she was awake in order to remove this safely.
