It's sort of completely shuts down the ridiculous kind of idyllic fantasy of the 50s about what the home was supposed to represent. David Lynch messes around a lot with this kind of archetypal home which was so influential to him growing up at that time. You never really know what's going on inside a person's home; how well do you really know your neighbors?
