To be human presumably requires that we have an element of consciousness or we have consciousness within us. So then how can it be that when we're asleep for an operation, are we still human at that point? I know we're alive. Our parameters have been controlled. But how do you describe that? What's the difference between that and death? Well, I think we are turned into objects. And in a way that is similar to death, but it's not the same thing because your body, the processes of life that animate your body remains ongoing.
