‘Robust effects of working memory demand during naturalistic language comprehension in language-selective cortex’ with Cory Shain
The Language Neuroscience Podcast
Are There Controls for High Level Language Processing?
There's many controls actually and many different potential explanatory variables. We used a couple of different measures of surprise all that had shown, been shown to be strongly predictive of language network activation in a prior state. And so in order for us to kind of like say that working memory effects on our speech patterns over time are not explained by any of these controls, those were included too. So we supported based on prior study and then we included to really make the case airtight,. uh, a very strong neural network or a current neural network developed by Van Chindel and Linson with cognitively motivated components.
