Is the Auxiliary Partner in the Relationship?
When a couple is opening up, they get so focused on their experience. They don't think of the other person as a person with their own life. And that lens then does not, to your point, see them as a full human being. I find the secondary tertiary language to be problematic because it assumes hierarchy and there doesn't need to be a hierarchy.
