The Maori named for North Island means the Great Fish of Maui. In the Maori legend, South Island is Maui. He's another great Maori hero, mythical figure. And they found their way until eventually. Kuro Moratini, a coupé's wife, looks out and they're lying low,. strung out on the horizon with a white cloud on top of it. There it was, land. She called it Alteroa, the land of the long white cloud.
