Why Are Fires So Bad in California?

In california, something like half to three quarters of the large fires are ignited by people. Lightning is a really important a source of fire. Conditions are drier now, and so fires are able to move through dry fuel much more easily than they were when they are trying to move through field forty years ago. Fires are escaping our control more easily to day than they were forty years ago,. even though there are more people and more resources available to try and put out the fires.
