Exchange Transfusions - What Are the Indications?
Sickle arithrocites are more viscous ther less deformable than normal rithr so if you have a patient with single cell nemia, and you push their hemoglobin over around ten or 11, they can get this hyper viscosity center. In order to really push down the patient's % hemoglobin in really sick patients, what you need to do is remove blood and then give them additional blood.
