I don't know any way that you can reconcile that tension and still retain your Christian convictions. I think there it might be a matter of conviction, but certainly not as combatants. So if you live in a country that's considered a great power, that fights lots of wars, then you're much less likely to be a pacifist,. Think of the United States or Russia today... Christians in those countries tend to be more supportive of violent means to solve disputes.
