They're great at summarizing and they're great at generating texts that can pass the muster of a human being reading it. But in their current state, not so much. We call it hallucinating because it's not lying if the thing doing it doesn't have a concept of truth. That is why in its currency you cannot think of it like a search engine. This lawyer thought he was plugging a question into a search engine and he wasn't. He was asking a machine to generate text and it did too good of a job.
