Is There a Greater Interest in Preventing Maternal Mortality in States?
Since the United States first started gathering data on race and maternal mortality about 100 years ago, black women have been at a higher risk than white women for dying due to a pregnancy. There are huge differences in all kinds of predictors and social determinants of health between and among racial groups as you know very well. Food security is a big part of prenatal health and also of postnatal health for birthing people. Is there violence in your home? Do you have somebody who can help you if you're unable to breastfeed or get formula? Did you have someone to help you manage the stress of caring for a new infant?"
