The Class of Approaches to Self-Supervised Learning
Self-supervised learning is about how do you train on a large collection of examples that did not have to go through a human annotation effort? Maybe it's just a huge amount of data and fire hydrants are featured in some of it. And maybe there are other objectives than explicit matching of human annotations that we can use to pre-train these networks so that they develop these representations. Tesla has experimented with a number of them internally at Tesla.
