We originally ran basically everything on Kubernetes. We found that for certain things, what we wanted was lower level access to the system. Fly just happens to be one of the easiest ways to do that with Heroku kind of getting rid of some of their free tours. I'm really excited to try out their machine API that allows you really quick access to booting machines.
