A Brief History of the Roman Empire in Syria
Palestinia was the key pro of the eastern roman empire, conquered and organized by pompey as he went east young man in the sixties. Directly bordering syria were cilicia, which hugged the mediterranean coast, and cappadocia, which headed up into the taurus mountains. The province that would become best known for its series of underground cities is Cappadocia - a province that always backed the wrong side in a war but still managed to escape reprisals.
