The Four Stages to Creativity
There's been a lot of research on creativity going back from like 100 years or so, showing us that there's these stages to creativity. I call them the four stages to creativity: preparation, incubation, illumination and verification. And for myself, when I was an inexperienced writer trying to write a book, I thought that I could just sit down and put one word after another. But once I started to recognize, okay, this isn't something that you just sat down and do all at once, you have to do one piece at a time and be patient with it."
