During the edsons, the battle of the bloody ridge, or the ridge, there was another incredible patrol that's called the long patrol because it lasted for just a little over 30 days. And they also were able to protect henderson field. During that they also were instrumental in landing on, later on new georgia. The last that the raiders faught under the flag of being marine raiders, was at bougenville. So what eventually led to them being dissolved? Was it because the island hopping campaign had ended and they were no longer needed? Or what was the reason for that?
