The Smell of Brisket

The smell of brisket cooking was a key ingredient in the Jewish way that all Jews where I grew up would make it. The phone in the kitchen of our house when I was growing up, it was on this like, there was some like thing on the wall and you're supposed to put mail in there. And if you tugged on the cord in the right way, the door would open up and all the mail would fall under the floor. If you were going to break it down, you'd say it's some sense of likeI'm doing something wrong or I'm afraid of it.
