The spring predictability barrier seems to be over, almost. It's a few weeks since we talked about the likelihood of an El Nino kicking in this year. The Pacific temperatures reached a threshold a month or two back but wind patterns have been slow to catch up. We've also confirmation that the star that exploded in Galaxy M101 recently was a red super giant very like Betelgeuse. Maybe there are lessons there.
