Lacan and the Psychosis of Heidegger
David Frum: Heidegger apparently was very nervous by how fast Lacan drove. Most of his studies were on psychosis, right? Like most of his patients, that's where he gathered most of his work. You'll note though that in the opening pages of seminar 10, Lacan is trying to distinguish what he's doing from what Hegel's doing. On page 25 where we get that really nice formula for anxiety,. Lacan is working 24 and 25 against Hegel. These are formulas against the standard Marxist reading of desire.
