Ayn Rand was an independent young woman who had a view of the world that was different than the view of the communists out there. She wanted to be a writer, but she couldn't be a writer in the Soviet Union. Because the kind of books she wanted to write, they would have never allowed. We the Living is the most autobiographical of Ayn Rand's works.
