The Manhattan Project
The manhattan project worked on both at the same time in order to increase the odds, increase the probability of discovering one type of bomb that would work. A test site was chosen in the desert in new mexico, an isolated area far away from any other settlements. At five 29 a m with hundreds of scientists watching eagerly from a distance of 30 kilometers, the weapon was detonated. Nobody had ever done anything like this.
