Vespasian's Propaganda and Public Perception

The new emperor was blessed by remaining physically absent from the city. Vespasian knew that he was just a man, but it was important for the people to believe that he was perhaps something more. The iconography of the coins minted during his reign harped relentlessly on two themes, peace and victory.
