Why Is It So Prominent on the Popular Level on the Internet?

There's a shock factor involved. It catches people off guard, and maybe it like trips them up because they haven't heard this before. I think part of the resurgence of this argument is due to the popularity of myth and mythology in general. This is also an easy bake argument for the money in this copycat theory form. And our society's current trend towards back-down demand and that our knowledge is miles wide and deep is part of the problem.
