Dostom's Defection - The Last Nail in the Coffin
When the soviet union fell in 19 91, dostom saw the writing on the wall and defected from the communist government. The war lords were now in charge and all of them were armed to the teeth with modern western weaponry. On one side was a mujhadin government, with ahmed shah massud serving as defense minister. And gulbadin hematar, who had received so many weapons from the c i a, turned all of those on to cobble itself. Hecmitar bombarded the city with rocket attacks, destroying entire neighborhoods, killing tens of thousands of civilians.
