The Yemen case is really illustrative to point you just made. Every American president going back to Carter said ultimately, I'm responsible as commander in chief. Compared with Donald Trump, a raid in Yemen went badly. John McCain said it was a failure. Civilians died. Children died. A U.S. Navy SEAL died. And Donald Trump's response wasn't: It's the fault of the military. He had personally approved this raid. But to blame the military, I've never seen military friends of mine be more offended by anything dating back to the rock war than that.
