The Negative Gearing of Landlord Incomes

The ATO released the data for 2020, 2021. There were 2.2 million landlords, 53% of them were either made a profit or didn't lose money on their rental investment that year. The landlord income picture is skewed by older people and others who have low taxable incomes, but own large assets. More than 1 million negatively geared taxpayers received less than $10,000 into documents from their income in 2020 walk to one. Many received no net benefit because their taxable income was so low, they didn't pay any tax on it.
