Oil Lift Pumps - The Next Gusher in Oil Fields

In the early days, when oil was discovered in reservoirs that lacked sufficient pressure to drive oil to the surface, producers generally just moved on looking for the next gusher. But before long, it was realized that oil fields with sufficient natural pressure to form gushers were becoming fewer and farther between. Soon the lift pump was invented. This technology made it possible to produce much more oil from any given oil field after the gushers stopped gushing on their own.
