We can get in the habit of being able to see other people's problems more easily than we can see our own. By focusing on somebody else, we lose perspective in our own situations and it makes it more difficult to self-regulate. When we are taking responsibility for others, instead of taking responsibility for self, it is harder to self-Regulate. It may make a big, big part of our lives, but it is not everything.
