In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna discovers that his chariot driver is actually like Krishna. He's co-terminus with all time and space; he's the god of all the universe. But it's not as if Arjuna, you know, what he takes from this is to fall down weeping and gnashing his teeth for all the suffering of the world.
