The Attractive Nuisance of Software Engineering
Since 1968 or 69, we've had this notion of software engineering that you refer to as academic software engineering in which- I wish I had a better term for that. We've also got French guy whose name I can't pronounce and Lenin who are both doing the same thing. They have this idea of engineering and they want to apply it to humanity. Maybe engineering is an attractive nuisance. Wouldn't we be better off? Just focused on what we need to do to do things better...and not let ourselves wander so close to the edge of that swimming pool when they'll pass 60 years later.
